Mirek, what is your role at Covalen?

I’m a Solution Manager for a technology client account.

How long have you worked with our company?

I’m working with Covalen since June 2021.

Overall, what impact do our Covalen Values have on your working life?

These Values are very natural for me. I wasn’t really paying attention to the fact that I follow them every day and now when I think about their meaning and what they represent, it makes me happy. They give me the feeling that I do things right in my professional life.

How did you feel about firstly being nominated as an 'Exceed' Value Champion, and secondly receiving the Covalen Value Champion award?

As mentioned, what I do every day comes naturally to me, it is part of who I am, therefore, I was nicely surprised that others noticed and recognised my contribution. After the excitement passed a bit, I felt very proud and grateful to be able to work in an environment where commitment is recognised and appreciated. Overall, I felt a real positive push to continue in my chosen direction.

How did you feel about seeing some of the comments from your peers?

I felt surprised at first but at the same time very proud and grateful to be working with people who think of me this way. Appreciation is not something I actively pursue in my professional life, and it feels wonderfully rewarding when it is shown by your colleagues. It’s confirmation for me that what I do and how I do it is right, and that I should continue along this path. It also highlights what great people I work with, and it makes me happy to wake up every morning and make the most of our daily interactions.

Describe what ‘exceed’ means to you, and how this value impacts your working life?

I don’t think about what I’m doing as exceeding. I have a passion for what I do and when I commit to my goals, I do as much as I can to achieve them. When it comes to our company values, I think it’s wonderful that my commitment and passion are recognised as exceeding expectations.

Tell me about your journey with Covalen so far.

From the very beginning of my journey with Covalen, I heard great things about the company and its culture. Everything I heard was confirmed to me through my experience. Every step of the way, I was surrounded by people who were very welcoming and more than helpful. I felt and still feel like I’m part of a big family who are genuinely interested in my success and wellbeing, and who continue engaging with me in different ways to help me be the best I can be.

I have a passion for what I do and when I commit to my goals, I do as much as I can to achieve them.

How have you maintained a strong work ethic and what are your greatest motivators?

I feel that having passion for what you do is the key to staying focused on targets and at the same time, that passion drives a sense of fulfilment. I’m very lucky to work as a Solution Manager. I’m extremely interested in the scope of work my role brings, and I get a sense of personal satisfaction when I achieve my goals, or when I’m making progress to get there. Being surrounded by amazing teammates is very encouraging and makes everything easier. Company Values are very familiar to me, so it feels natural to follow and embrace our Covalen Values in my role.

What advice would you give to a colleague who needed to handle a big challenge?

Focus on the target and don’t be afraid to ask for help. As much as you might want to tackle it by yourself, there is nothing wrong with asking your colleagues for help. Also, sometimes just taking a fresh look at the problem can be extremely helpful. Rather than stressing out, or even worse giving up, try to embrace teamwork. Be there for others and others will be there for you. Never underestimate the power of a team.

What do you like most about working at Covalen?

First and foremost, I enjoy working with people who from the beginning, made me feel like part of the family. Being open to new initiatives, appreciating people's efforts and achievements, and being there for my colleagues as they are for me is the essence of what I like most here. I feel that wellbeing, engagement and work/life balance are encouraged at Covalen, and that people genuinely care.
